Visiting days depend on their register number

At the USP, weekend visiting alternates by register number: on Saturdays and Sundays, whether an inmate can have visitors depends on the fifth digit of their register number (odd numbers one day, even the other). Fridays, federal holidays, and the Satellite Camp are open to everyone.

Before you book anything, ask your loved one which day and time they're assigned — by phone, email or letter — and confirm it with the facility. The calendar shows every possible visiting day at this facility, not necessarily theirs.

Points / frequency: USP inmates get 5 visits per calendar month (holiday visits usually don't count against the total); the Camp has no point/limit system.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No khaki pants/shirts or gray sweatpants
  • Skirts/dresses no more than 3 inches above the knee; no shorts (except children under 12)
  • No see-through, halter, tube, tank tops, or midriff-baring tops
  • No low-cut, backless, or strapless clothing; bras must be worn
  • No coats or jackets inside the USP visiting room (elderly and small children may wear a sweater)
  • No shower shoes, house shoes, or beach shoes

You may bring

  • Two forms of ID, at least one with a photo (driver's license, passport, or state ID)
  • One clear plastic bag/container, no larger than 8" x 6"
  • Money for the vending machines
  • One baby bottle with formula or milk (inspected at security)

Not allowed

  • Cell phones, cameras, and recording devices
  • Food, gum, magazines, newspapers, photo albums
  • Toys, books, cards, dolls, or games for children
  • Tape players/recorders (except pre-approved attorney use)

Good to know

ID requirements
Two forms of identification are required; at least one must have a laminated photo (driver's license, birth certificate, passport, or state ID with photo and signature).
Children
Children 17 and under may visit only with a responsible adult family member who is on the approved visiting list; children are not guaranteed a seat and must be kept under control at all times.
Vending machines
Vending machines in the visiting room are for visitors only; USP inmates may not use them or carry money in the visiting room.
  • Visitors may not enter before 7:45 a.m. (USP) or 8:00 a.m. (Camp), but may wait in the parking lot
  • Lockers are available for personal items not allowed inside the visiting room
  • A split visit can be arranged if more than the authorized number of visitors arrive at once
