Points / frequency: 40 points per month for FCI/FPC inmates; 2 points charged per hour on weekend/holiday visits (any visit over 15 minutes counts as a full hour). Legal visits are not counted. SHU inmates: 1 hour/day, max 2 visitors.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No camouflage, solid khaki, tan, green, white, orange, grey, or brown clothing (resembles staff/inmate uniforms)
  • No sweatsuits, military/tactical-style clothing, or sports jerseys
  • No low-cut, see-through, tube, tank, halter, crop, or backless tops; no sundresses
  • Shorts/skirts/dresses no more than 3 inches above the back of the knee (no slits above that point)
  • No spandex, leggings, yoga pants, or pajamas
  • Closed-toe shoes required; no flip-flops, sandals, or Crocs; heels max 2 inches
  • No hats, hoods, wristwatches, or fitness bands; keep jewelry minimal

You may bring

  • Valid photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport) for visitors 16 and older
  • One clear plastic bag (max 8x12 in) with up to $25 in change/small bills
  • Essential medication (inhaler, nitroglycerin) kept at the Visiting Room Officer's podium
  • For infants: 2 unopened baby food containers, 2 clear empty bottles, 1 unopened formula, 3 diapers, 1 sealed wipes pack, 1 change of clothes/blanket for newborns, in a clear bag up to 12x16 in

Not allowed

  • Any item given to or received from an inmate without prior approval
  • Bags/purses staff cannot fully search (must be left in the vehicle)
  • Non-service animals
  • Wrist watches, timepieces, or electronic sports bands
  • Group or extra photos beyond what the inmate photographer allows (hand-holding only)

Good to know

ID requirements
Visitors 16+ need valid photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport). Mexican Consulate matrícula cards and B1/B2 visa/border-crossing cards are NOT accepted as valid ID.
Children
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and stay in authorized areas; a play area with TV exists at the FCI (none at the FDC). Breastfeeding is permitted with discretion and appropriate draping.
Vending machines
Visitors may buy from vending machines and bring items back to the inmate; food for the inmate must be unopened and shown to an officer. Inmates cannot enter the vending area or share food/drinks.
Money you may bring
Up to $25 in change or small bills, in one clear plastic bag no larger than 8x12 inches
  • Storage lockers are available for visitors (institution not responsible for lost/stolen items)
  • All bags entering the facility must be clear
  • A-Unit inmates visit odd calendar days, B-Unit even days (per an older attachment; confirm current unit split before traveling)
  • Smoking is not prohibited on the outside grounds, per this document
