Visiting days depend on their housing unit

The main FCI visits Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays for everyone. At the FDC (detention) side, West Unit inmates visit Friday and Sunday, while East Unit inmates visit Saturday and Monday.

Rotation: FCI general population visits Fri 11:30am-3pm, Sat/Sun/holidays 8:15am-3pm. Friday morning (8:15-11:15am) is reserved for SHU inmates and PVS visitors only. Each inmate gets 12 visiting points/month, 2 points per visit, limited to one visit per day.

Points / frequency: FCI: 12 points/month, 2 points per visit, 1 visit per day max. Both FCI and FDC limit visits to 5 total visitors, no more than 3 adults (16+) at a time.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No tank tops, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, or plunging necklines
  • No transparent/see-through or excessively tight/spandex clothing
  • No khaki-colored or camouflage clothing
  • No shorts, wrap-around skirts, or skirts that aren't knee-length
  • No open-toed shoes, hooded shirts/sweatshirts, or clothing with holes
  • Coats/jackets/sweaters allowed only Nov 1-Apr 30, left on the lobby coat rack

You may bring

  • Valid government photo ID for visitors 16+ (children exempt but must be accompanied)
  • Up to $20 in cash for vending
  • For infants: 1 small see-through diaper bag, 1 change of clothing, 3 diapers, wipes, 2 clear plastic bottles, a seasonal blanket
  • Feminine hygiene products (for female visitors)

Not allowed

  • Handbags/purses, electronics, cell phones, pagers, watches
  • Toys, food/candy/gum, newspapers, magazines, photographs, greeting cards
  • Umbrellas, baby strollers, infant carrier seats
  • Lotion, lipstick/chapstick/lip gloss
  • Paperwork, packages, tobacco products

Good to know

ID requirements
Visitors 16 and older must show valid government photo ID (passport, driver's license, or state ID card); Mexican consulate ID cards are not accepted.
Children
Children under 16 don't need ID but must be accompanied by an adult who is approved to visit; a parent or approved responsible adult brings minors.
Vending machines
Only visitors may buy from vending machines; purchased food must be emptied onto a paper plate before returning to the table, and can then be shared with the inmate from the plate.
Money you may bring
Up to $20 per visitor (16+), for vending machines only — cannot be given to the inmate or deposited to their account
  • Don't arrive at the Front Lobby before 8:00 a.m. or congregate outside the entrance
  • Visitors are randomly tested with an electronic drug detection device
  • Nursing mothers can use a private auxiliary room with a curtain
  • Check bop.gov/institutions/mil for an emergency/lockdown notice before traveling
