Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No dresses/shirts/mini-skirts with long slits; no mini-skirts or wrap-around skirts
  • No sleeveless, strapless, bareback, tight, form-fitting, or see-through clothing (including sheer over another shirt)
  • No deep V-neck tops; shorts/skirts no more than 2 inches above the knee (no portion of the breast may be exposed)
  • No caps, hats, or scarves of any kind; no long coats/sweaters/jackets with hoods or extending below the knee
  • No clothing symbolizing gang activity/affiliation; no halter tops or midriff shirts (shirts must be tucked in or belted, ages 4+)
  • No fishnet, Lycra/spandex, athletic shorts/sweatpants, wind suits, or swimwear
  • No slippers, shower shoes, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes; no camouflage, orange, or khaki-colored clothing

You may bring

  • Valid proof of identity (driver's license, state ID card, or passport) with a photograph
  • One clear plastic bag, not to exceed one gallon in size
  • Up to 3 clear baby bottles filled with formula or milk (inspected by metal detector, x-ray, and visual check)
  • Clear plastic diaper bag (for small infants only), up to 3 diapers, wet wipes, and 1 small blanket
  • A small blanket/covering for breastfeeding mothers

Not allowed

  • Weapons, ammunition, pocket knives, handcuffs/handcuff keys
  • Cosmetics, electronic devices/games/toys, cigarettes/lighters/tobacco/e-cigarettes
  • Photos, albums, cell phones, MP3 players, or any recording device
  • Purses/handbags, umbrellas, sunglasses, pens/pencils/paper, magazines/books/Bible, candy/gum/food, baby carriers or strollers

Good to know

ID requirements
Visitors over 16 must have valid proof of identity: a current state or federal-approved photo ID (driver's license, state ID card, or passport). Without a photo ID, the visitor will not be allowed to visit.
Children
Visitors under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible, approved adult visitor who keeps them under direct control and supervision at all times; failure to control children results in termination of the visit. Children age 4 and older must follow the adult dress code (shirts tucked in/belted).
Vending machines
Visitors may buy food, snacks, and candy from vending machines in the Visiting Room; items must be eaten there by the inmate and visitor. Visitors are limited to $20 per adult person for vending machines (exact change recommended) and may not leave money for the inmate's account.

  • Visitors may not wait in their vehicles or at the front entrance for more than 15 minutes before visiting starts
  • Visitor processing can take over 30 minutes when there is a large group waiting
  • No public transportation serves Three Rivers; local options are City Cab/Yellow Cab (361-358-4809) or Greyhound (361-449-1031)
  • Visitors are allowed one visit per day and may not leave and return later the same day
