Visiting days depend on their housing unit

Which day(s) you can visit depends on which unit your inmate is housed in: main FCI general population visits Sat/Sun/Mon/holidays; the Jail (pretrial) unit has its own limited schedule; the Abilene Honor Dorm gets an extra Friday visit; the Lubbock medical unit shares the weekend days but in separate processing blocks.

Before you book anything, ask your loved one which day and time they're assigned — by phone, email or letter — and confirm it with the facility. The calendar shows every possible visiting day at this facility, not necessarily theirs.

Rotation: Main FCI Visiting Room (Building 1). Processing of inmates pauses at 9:30 a.m. ahead of the 10:00 a.m. count; visitors may not leave during the count. Up to 3 visitors (adults + children) at a time; a child under 3 may be admitted and must be held by an adult the whole visit.

Jail

Rotation: Jail Unit (pretrial/detention) Visiting Room. Limited to immediate family (mother, father, step/foster parents, siblings, children, spouse including same-sex marriage). Max 2 adult visitors at a time (an infant may accompany without occupying a seat); up to 15 visitors total in the room at once; up to 3 visits per week per inmate.

Abilene Honor Dorm

  • Friday8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • No visiting: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat, Sun
No visiting on federal holidays

Rotation: Extra Friday visiting day (in addition to the regular Sat/Sun/Mon/holiday schedule) for inmates assigned to the Abilene Unit Honor Dorm. Gate-pass inmates working that day need detail-supervisor approval to attend.

Lubbock

Rotation: Lubbock Unit (medically assigned inmates). Processing runs in two blocks, 8:00-10:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m., on Sat/Sun/Mon/holidays. Due to space limits, only 2 adult visitors at a time.

Points / frequency: Each inmate gets 9 visiting points on the 1st of the month. 1 point is deducted per weekday visit, 2 points per weekend/holiday visit; points do not carry over. Minister of Record visits do not count against the total. (Jail, Abilene, and Lubbock units have their own separate visitor-count limits — see each schedule entry.)

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • Tops must fully cover the torso — no sleeveless, crop, tube, tank, or halter tops
  • No wrap-around dresses/tops, and no dress/skirt slit or hemline more than 2 inches above the knee (for anyone over 10)
  • No form-fitting/tight clothing (spandex, bike pants), leggings, jeggings, or leotards, unless covered by a proper-length dress/skirt
  • Only walking shorts reaching the top of the knee are allowed
  • Shoes must have a back or back strap — no flip-flops, open-toe, slip-ons, shower shoes, or wheeled shoes
  • No gray sweatpants/sweatshirts, plain brown/white t-shirts, khaki/tan clothing, or orange/red jumpsuits (resemble inmate wear)
  • No hats/visors/head wraps (except religious headwear), sunglasses, non-prescription glasses, watches, umbrellas, or gloves
  • No gang-related clothing/accessories or professional uniforms (medical, clergy, military)

You may bring

  • Valid driver's license, state ID, military ID, passport, or other government photo ID (Mexican Consulate Matrícula cards are NOT accepted)
  • One small (half-gallon size) clear purse/bag with up to $25 cash and/or one credit/debit card
  • For infant visitors: 3 diapers, 1 unopened wipes package, 1 change of infant clothing, 2 clear bottles with pre-mixed formula, 2 unopened baby food jars, 1 receiving blanket, 1 clear drinking cup, in a medium clear bag up to 12x16 in
  • Life-sustaining medication (e.g., nitroglycerin, inhalers) — must stay at the Visiting Room officer's station
  • Feminine hygiene products

Not allowed

  • Any item to give to an inmate (visitors may not bring anything to hand over)
  • Keys other than a vehicle key
  • Cameras, recording devices, or anything that interferes with the metal detector (e.g., underwire bras, garter belts, costume jewelry, large metal buttons) unless medically necessary
  • Watches, sunglasses, non-prescription glasses, umbrellas, or gloves

Good to know

ID requirements
Each visitor must present valid proof of identity (driver's license, state ID, military ID, passport, or other government photo ID) before entering. Mexican Consulate Matrícula Consular cards are not accepted. Visitors surrender their ID to the Front Lobby officer for the duration of the visit.
Children
At least one adult must be present if children are attending; a child under 3 may be admitted but must be held by an adult visitor for the whole visit. In the Jail Unit, an infant may accompany the two adult visitors without occupying a seat.
Vending machines
Vending machines are in the Visiting Room; items can be bought with cash or card for the inmate being visited, but must be eaten in the designated eating area and cannot be taken back to the inmate's housing unit.
Money you may bring
Up to $25.00 in cash and/or one credit or debit card, carried in one small (half-gallon size) clear/transparent purse or bag
  • A private nursing room is available on request at both the main FCI and the FDC/SHU visiting rooms
  • Secure lockers are provided for items not allowed inside
  • Main Visiting Room capacity is 155 people — visits may be shortened or limited if it gets overcrowded
  • Check FMC Fort Worth's public website before traveling in case of cancellations due to a disruptive event
