Visiting days depend on their housing unit

A posted calendar splits weekend/holiday visiting by housing unit: 'Red Side' (Units A/B/C) gets one day, 'Blue Side' (Units D/E/F) gets the other, swapping which day each side gets every week. Check the posted calendar or call the institution to confirm your inmate's assigned day.

Points / frequency: Each inmate gets 8 visiting points on the 1st of each month; a weekend or holiday visit costs 2 points and a weekday visit costs 1 point, so routine visits are capped at about 4 per month. No points are charged for legal visits, Prisoner Visitation Service (PVS) visits, or visits from the inmate's registered Minister of Record.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No khaki, tan, light brown, dark green, or camouflage clothing (too close to inmate attire)
  • No shorts, tank/halter tops, or skirts/dresses above the knee
  • No hooded jackets/sweatshirts, hats, scarves, or heavy/puffy coats
  • No open-toed shoes, sandals, flip-flops, house slippers, or heeled shoes
  • No plain white t-shirts or clothing with rips, holes, or tears
  • Female visitors must wear a bra; underwire bras will set off the metal detector
  • No watches of any kind (wrist or pocket)

You may bring

  • Valid state or government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or alien ID card)
  • Up to $30 in a small clear plastic bag for vending machines
  • Plain wedding band (no stone)
  • One approved religious medallion on a chain, worn inside the shirt
  • Prescription eyeglasses (no case)
  • Limited baby supplies per child: 3 diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, 2 bottles/sippy cups, 2 unopened baby-food jars, a blanket, a spoon, and a small clear tote

Not allowed

  • Cell phones, cameras, or any electronic devices
  • Wallets, large purses, or tote bags (besides the allowed small baby-item tote)
  • Tobacco products of any kind
  • Food or drinks brought in from outside the institution
  • Gifts or any items handed to an inmate without prior Warden approval
  • Toys, games, newspapers, magazines, or photos brought from outside

Good to know

ID requirements
A valid, unexpired state or government-issued photo ID is required for every visitor over 16 (driver's license, passport, or alien ID card); altered, forged, or expired IDs and check-cashing cards are not accepted.
Children
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and count toward the 4-visitor limit; those age 16+ must submit their own visitor form. Kids may not sit on an inmate's lap, and visitors are responsible for supervising children's behavior at all times.
Vending machines
Sandwiches, soft drinks, and candy are sold from vending machines in the visiting room; inmates may not use the machines or receive vending food themselves.
Money you may bring
Up to $30 in coins/bills for vending machines, carried in a small clear plastic bag (no larger than 8x10 in); wallets are not allowed in the visiting room.
  • Arrive well before 2:00 pm - visitors are not processed after that time
  • On weekends/holidays, escorts into the visiting room pause after 9:00 am until the 10:00 am inmate count clears
  • Check www.bop.gov before traveling in case visiting is suspended that day
  • Your hand will be stamped and checked under a black light each time you enter or exit the secure area
  • Large vehicles like RVs and trailers cannot be parked in the visitor lot
