Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No tight-fitting or stretch clothing, no see-through clothing
  • Female visitors may not wear halter tops, sleeveless shirts, tank tops, backless dresses/shirts, body suits, hip huggers, wrap-around skirts, or skirts ending more than 2 inches above the knee
  • Female visitors must wear a bra and other undergarments without exception
  • No shorts, sweatpants, athletic jumpsuits, camouflage, or khaki-colored clothing (male or female)
  • No open-toe shoes/flip-flops
  • All items entering the Visiting Room must be carried in a clear plastic container (no purses, hats, or diaper bags)

You may bring

  • Valid government-issued photo ID (required for all visitors 16 and older)
  • Diapers, clear baby bottles, and sanitary supplies in reasonable amounts
  • One clear quart-sized zip-top plastic bag with up to $40.00 in change
  • Unopened, store-bought containers of baby food
  • All items must be carried in a clear plastic container

Not allowed

  • Purses, food (other than vending machine items), hats, photographs, or games - must be left in your vehicle
  • Diaper bags, juice or water bottles, or any outside food/drinks
  • Cameras or recording equipment of any kind
  • Weapons, ammunition, intoxicants, drugs, or contraband
  • Cell phones (a loaner phone with local access is available on request for visitors without one)

Good to know

ID requirements
All visitors 16 years of age and older must be identified via valid government-issued photo identification before being allowed entry into the facility.
Children
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is an authorized visitor and count toward the 4-visitor limit per inmate. Visitors 16-17 not accompanied by a parent, guardian, or immediate family member 18+ on the approved list must mail written parental/guardian approval to the institution before the visit. A supervised children's play area with board games is provided; inmates may never enter it.
Vending machines
Vending machines are available in the Visiting Room for food and drinks, for visitor use only. Inmates cannot access the machines or the surrounding area; all purchased food must be eaten or disposed of before leaving the visiting room, and no food/drinks are allowed at the tables themselves.
Money you may bring
Up to $40.00 in change, carried in one clear quart-sized zip-top plastic bag
  • Call the Visitation Schedule Announcement Line (606-354-7000, ext. 7002) to check visiting status before traveling
  • No entry is permitted after 2:00 p.m.; visitors are advised at 2:45 p.m. that all visits end at 3:00 p.m.
  • Secure lockers are available in the front lobby on request; keys must be returned before leaving
  • A payphone is available in the front lobby, and a loaner phone is available for visitors without a mobile phone
  • A list of (non-local) taxi services is posted in the Front Lobby
